Turkey’s benchmark index started the day with a 112.88-point decrease to open at 98,200.89 points on Thursday.

On the fourth transaction day of the week, the BIST 100 index declined 0.11 percent.

Among all sectors, the telecommunication sector index was the best performer with a 0.78-percent rise while the holding sector index started the day with the biggest decline.

At close on Wednesday, the BIST 100 was up 596.29 points or 0.61 percent to reach 98,313.77 points, with a total trading volume of 7.2 billion Turkish liras (around $2 billion) — marking the highest close of all time.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 3.5520 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Thursday, compared with 3.5640 at Wednesday’s close.
