CBN governor, Emefiele resumes duty after annual leave

Godwin Emefiele,governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has resumed duty following his annual vacation abroad in December 2022.

CBN governor, Emefiele resumes duty after annual leaveThis was confirmed in a press release by the CBN, dated January 16,2022 and signed by Osita Nwanisobi, director, corporate communications of the apex bank.

Emefiele, according to the statement,resumed with renewed vigour to perform his duty ahead of the first Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting of the year scheduled for January 23 to 24, 2023.

The statement  further assured that the governor remains committed to performing the task before him in line with his oath of office and the policy direction of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Thanking the public for keeping faith with the Bank, the CBN urged Nigerians to continue to support the policies of the Bank aimed at ensuring a stable financial system and the Nigerian economy in general.

Prior to the recent development, Emefiele, whose annual leave expires on Tuesday, January 17, had been engulfed in allegations of financing terrorism which led to operatives of the State Security Service(SSS) reportedly cordoning off his office on Monday afternoon.
