WIMBIG, an online raffle firm, has begun operation in Aba, Abia State’s commercial nerve centre. The company says it is offering wide opportunities to its customers to win a wide range of products and items.
Eze Chimezie Chukwu, the general manager of WIMBIG explained that the company came with digital platform innovations to change the old way of doing raffle.
He said, using their platform customers can stake with their mobile phones from the comfort of their homes.
Chukwu said that customers can only stake a game when they register and fund their accounts through banking channels, adding that funding an account enables a customer to take part in the online raffle where he or she can win items.
The WIMBIG general manager assured that the company has the capacity to pay winners promptly; saying that they were already expanding to cities like Owerri, Port Harcourt, among others.
Explaining how the company started, he informed that a group of young Nigerian entrepreneurs at home and in the Diaspora teamed up to form WIMBIG.COM Services Limited, which is duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
“WIMBIG raffle is a digital raffle promotion platform that provides Nigerians with an opportunity to win big and have their local needs met. Items to be won include household wares, beauty products and cosmetics, electronics, real estate properties, cash, and even vacations. Customers can only stake on WIMBIG platform when they register and have an account. They have to fund their account through electronic banking channels (e-channels),” he said.
He explained that though WIMBIG was on a digital platform, customers do not really need an internet-enabled phone to fund their accounts.
“Funding your account enables you to take part on WIMBIG platform. Assuming you are staking for something worth N500, you must fund your account to do that. The winning is electronically generated, it can’t be manipulated,” Chukwu said.
He denied the notion that WIMBIG is a ponzi scheme, or a betting site of sports activities. “WIMBIG only provides a platform which has digitalized the old raffle system,” the general manager said.
Uzo Michael Osinachi, a staff of the company assured that the platform is secure from fraudulent activities; and urged raffle customers in Aba to make the digital switch to the WIMBIG platform.
He further stated that the online raffle outfit has provided employment to teeming youths, as it has engaged over 500 persons who have hit the streets and markets in the city.
