The World Bank has named Pinelopi Koujianou Goldberg as its new chief economist, closing the book on a difficult 15-month period in which Paul Romer held the position.
Goldberg is a professor of economics at Yale University, specialising in the effects of trade on developing countries. Her published research examines questions including the effects of trade on inequality, price stability and production, as well as exchange rate pass-through and the distributional effects of trade liberalization.
